The BYF Assistant is an internal, AI-powered feature integrated into the BYF App to assist team members, worship leaders, and volunteers with setlist management, chord lookup, rehearsal planning, and quick app navigation.
Built specifically for internal ministry operations, BYF Assistant streamlines team workflow. This Privacy Policy details how data submitted to or generated by BYF Assistant is processed, stored, and protected.
2. Ephemeral Messages & Selective Context Memory
We believe in minimal data footprint for conversational AI tools. BYF Assistant operates on the principle of ephemeral messaging:
- Ephemeral Messages: Chat interaction messages sent during an assistant session are transient. Raw chat logs and full message streams are non-persistent and are not stored in permanent public message archives.
- Selective Context Clues: To deliver helpful and personalized responses (such as remembering your vocal part, instrument assignment, current active setlist, or user preferences), the AI assistant selectively extracts and retains key context clues.
- Purpose of Context Memory: Retained context clues exist solely to maintain conversation continuity across assistant invocations so you do not have to re-enter your role or active ministry preferences every time you open the assistant sheet.

Data submitted to BYF Assistant is NEVER used to train, retrain, fine-tune, or improve custom, foundation, or public AI models (including Google Gemini or third-party AI models).
Your prompts, extracted context clues, worship setlists, team notes, and voice inputs remain strictly private to your team workspace and are never fed back into public model datasets.
4. AS-IS Disclaimer & AI Unpredictability
BYF Assistant and all generated outputs are provided on an “AS-IS” and “AS-AVAILABLE” basis:
- No Warranties: BYF makes no guarantees or warranties of any kind—express or implied—regarding the accuracy, completeness, reliability, or appropriateness of responses generated by BYF Assistant.
- Generative AI Unpredictability:While strict safety filters, system prompts, and technical guardrails are actively implemented, all artificial intelligence systems are inherently probabilistic. Generative AI may occasionally produce inaccurate information, unexpected responses, or “hallucinations”.
- User Discretion Required: Users and team leaders are advised to independently verify critical information (such as scripture references, song chord charts, rehearsal times, and scheduling details) prior to rely on assistant outputs for ministry events.
5. Technical Security & Processing
BYF Assistant leverages enterprise cloud infrastructure to execute prompt handling:
- Firebase AI Logic / Google Gemini API: Prompts and context clues are transmitted via secure HTTPS/TLS encrypted connections to Firebase AI Logic endpoints powered by Google Gemini API.
- Device Verification: Requests are verified using Firebase App Check attestation to ensure only authorized BYF app builds can access assistant APIs.
- Speech & Voice Inputs: If voice commands are used, speech-to-text processing utilizes standard OS speech recognition frameworks and is processed solely for input text conversion.
6. User Controls & Support
You may clear active assistant context at any time by resetting your session within the app or logging out of your account.
